Admission Requirements

Mfantseman Institute of Technology (MIT (GH), Cape Coast) admits candidates with different academic backgrounds. Candidates are admitted to programs at the beginning of the semester in either October or November. The main categories of candidates considered for admission for first year Bachelor Degree courses in the University are holders of:

General Certificate of Education ‘O’ and ’A’ level

Ordinary level (G. C. E) and Advanced Level: passes at credit level in at least five (5) subjects (including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject) in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) General Certificate of Education (GCE) and West African School Certificate, and three passes at the Advanced level of the GCE. One of the advanced level passes should be a grade D or better. A pass in the General Paper must be obtained.

Senior Secondary School Certificate of Examination (SSSCE) or West African Secondary School Certificate of Examination (WASSCE)

Passes in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science/Agric Science and any three Elective subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or better in the WAEC SSCE OR WASSCE.

Professional Qualifications

Those with the following qualifications may apply for consideration

HND;
Diploma in Business Studies;
Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Stage II – (five passes) and stage III – (three passes)
Post Secondary Teacher’s Certificate A
Equivalent qualifications may also be considered.

Mature Students

Mature students applying for admission but who do not satisfy the above requirements must have reasonable education and working experience and should have attained a minimum age of thirty (30) years at the time of submitting the application. All mature students will write the Mature Students Entrance Examination and attend a selection interview.

Foreign Students

Foreign students who hold qualifications equivalent to those mentioned above and also show evidence of proficiency in English Language may be considered for admission.

Departmental Requirements

In addition to the above general requirements students may have to satisfy departmental/faculty requirement.

Selection of candidates for admission

The final decision on the suitability of candidates for admission to any course rests with the Academic Affairs Committee.
