The Department of Gender Affairs is mandated to promote gender equality and safeguard the welfare and participation of women in social, political and economic development process. The Department is responsible for Gender Mainstreaming, Social Empowerment of Women and Girls.
2. Department of Child Development
The Department of Child Development is mandated to provide care, support and protection to children. The Department is responsible for all matter pertaining to Family and Child Welfare, Integrated Early Childhood Development, Probation and After Care of Juvenile Offenders as well as other Generic Social Work.

The Department is responsible for Policy Formulation, Analysis and Review, Programme/Project Planning and Budgeting, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, Coordination of Donor Programmes, and Information Communication Technology.

The Department of Administration and Support Services is mandated to provide administrative, risk management, financial and human resource development services in attainment of the ministry’s objectives. The Department is responsible for all matters pertaining to Policy Direction, Coordination and Implementation, Finance and Accounts, Human Resource Management and Development, Internal Auditing, Institutional Reviews, Office Management Services and Procurement, and Management of the Ministry’s Training Institutions and Facilities.
