The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional is mandated to provide policy guidance and direction to Government on all legal and constitutional matters.

The Ministry exists to promote the rule of law, justice and democracy, transparency and accountability by:

  • Providing legal advice to the Government.
  • Prosecuting criminal offenders.
  • Preparing and drafting legislation, contracts, agreements and other legal instruments on behalf of government.
  • Conducting civil litigation on behalf of Government.
  • Providing legal aid to eligible and deserving members of the public who cannot afford private legal representation.
  • Providing a legal framework for the registration of various legal instruments.
  • Providing an efficient administration of deceased estates.
  • Providing administrative services.
