REAL Insurance Company of Malawi Limited started operating in 1959 making it the oldest insurance company in Malawi.
It started operating as a branch of Royal & SunAlliance Group Plc until December 1999 when the group reorganised its operations in East and Central Africa. The group decided to channel its interests in this region through Royal Insurance Company of East Africa Limited (Now REAL Insurance Company Limited).
The company which is listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange is a subsidiary of REAL Insurance Company Limited and has its main office in Blantyre and branches in Lilongwe, Zomba, Mangochi and Mzuzu.
