Tobacco Board of Zambia Job Vacancies

Tobacco Board of Zambia (TBZ) was formulated through an Act of Parliament Tobacco Act CAP 237 of the Laws of Zambia.
TBZ has its headquarters in at Plot 19288, along Mungwi Road in Lusaka. Other Offices are in Chipata, Katete and Lundazi in Eastern Province, Kabwe and Mkushi in Central Province , Choma in Southern Province, Nkeyema (Kaoma) in Western Province and Kasama in Northern Province.

Production of tobacco in Zambia dates back to early 1920’s when White Settler grew it on a small scale. The importance of tobacco as a cash crop grew over the years up to the early past independence years.
Realizing the important role tobacco can play in the National Economy, the Zambian Government undertook a program of setting up tobacco infrastructures in selected parts of the country.

These included construction of roads, dams, curing facilities, personnel accommodation and many other related capital work. In addition, a tobacco threshing and packing plant was commission in 1967 with 20,000 tonne capacity.
Despite the entire infrastructure set to boost tobacco production, there was no remarkable increase in the tobacco production. Below are figures for tobacco production from 1976 to 1990. 

TBZ Board is the policy making body for TBZ and its structure has eight (8) Board of Directors. TBZ has a Secretariat headed by the Board Secretary who is also the CEO of the institution. Other offices include Operations, Finance, Human Resources & Administration, Information & Communication Technologies, Procurement, Regional Tobacco Offices, Inspectorate and other general offices.
