General Admission Requirements
Canadians and Permanent Residents
Would you like to study at Université de Saint-Boniface? The first step is to submit an application for admission. After your admission is officially confirmed, you will be able to register for courses.
Anyone who is admitted to USB for the first time must take the profil linguistique placement test prior to registration. This consists of an online grammar exercise that will direct you to the first-year French course that best meets your needs. THIS IS NOT AN ADMISSION TEST!
USB General Admission Requirements
The general admission requirements vary depending on where you are from. While these minimum requirements must be met to be eligible, it does not guarantee admission. You must also meet the admission requirements for your chosen program. Please see the Academic Calendar for the admission requirements of each of our programs.
English Proficiency
Certain programs (Health Care Aide Certificate, Early Childhood Education Diploma, Practical Nursing Diploma, Bachelor of Nursing, and Bachelor of Social Work) have admission requirements regarding English proficiency. In such cases, if you have not passed an equivalent to English 40S or English 42U in a Manitoban secondary school, USB will require standardized English test results to determine whether you are eligible for your chosen program. See the list of standardized English tests accepted by USB and the minimum results required for each of the programs in question.
Please note that we only accept the original document (less than 2 years old) indicating the standardized English test results. Photocopied or scanned documents will not be accepted.
Students from Manitoba
Applicants from Manitoba must have received a high school diploma with a minimum of 5 credits at the S, G or U levels in grade 12.
Students from Other Canadian Provinces
All students must meet the general admission requirements and the requirements specific to their chosen program. USB will accept the following as equivalent to Manitoba Grade 12:
Alberta: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
British Columbia: secondary school diploma with at least 4 courses at the Grade 12 level
Prince Edward Island: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
New Brunswick: secondary school diploma with at least 6 courses at the Grade 12 level
Nova Scotia: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
Nunavut: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
Ontario: secondary school diploma with at least 6 U or M courses at the Grade 12 level
Quebec: completion of 1st year CEGEP with a minimum average of 65%
Saskatchewan: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
Newfoundland and Labrador: secondary school diploma with at least 10 courses at the Grade 12 level
Northwest Territories: secondary school diploma with at least 5 courses at the Grade 12 level
Yukon: secondary school diploma with at least 4 courses at the Grade 12 level

Students Currently Studying at a High School in Canada

General Admission Requirements for Students with International Baccalaureate
Three higher level courses and three standard level courses with a minimum score of 4 in each subject and a total score of at least 24. Credits can be transferred for certain higher or standard level subjects with a minimum score of 4.

Advanced Placement
Although the Advanced Placement program does not lead to a diploma, credits can be transferred for certain subjects if the student received a final grade of 4 or higher.
Please be sure to submit your official College Board transcript to the Registrar’s Office before September 1st so that USB can assess the equivalencies for the AP courses that you have passed.
USB will notify you by email of the credits that are eligible for transfer. You may choose to accept or decline the offer to transfer credit. Additional information will be provided with this offer. Please see equivalencies for AP courses and USB courses.
