University of Botswana Admissions

Applications from all those who seek admission into undergraduate programmes of study at University of Botswana (UB) for August 2015 entry will be received from 2nd March 2015 to 10th April 2015. Former students who previously withdrew or discontinued or have been away from the university for at least one semester but not more than 10 semesters may also apply to enrol in August 2015. Applications will also be open to those who wish to transfer from their current institutions to UB.

In processing applications for the August 2015 intake, the university will require that the following be observed:

On-line Application:

University of Botswana has an on-line application system whereby prospective applicants can apply on-line wherever they are. All prospective applicants are therefore encouraged to make their applications online through the ‘’Study AT UB” link on the University of Botswana website: www.ub.bw as soon as the application receiving period opens. Prospective applicants may use any Internet facility available to them to apply. A guide on how to complete an application online is provided through the “STUDY AT UB” link.

Application Materials:

All Application materials, that is, Application Form, List of the Undergraduate programmes and their entry requirements, 2014 Guide on Application Cut‑Off Points, UB Points Scale System, A Guide to Prospective Applicants and Financial Procedures/Fee Schedule can be accessed through the “STUDY AT UB” link on the University of Botswana Website: www.ub.bw. The same application materials may also be obtained from Undergraduate Admissions Office at the Main Campus in Gaborone; Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown; Okavango Research Institute in Maun; Kasane Education Centre and public Senior Secondary Schools.

Applicants with Disability:

University of Botswana welcomes applicants with disability, and considers their applications on academic merit like all other applications. All applicants are expected to state whether they have any disability or not when they apply so that the university’sDisability Support Services Unit can contact them to understand the nature of their disability.  Prospective applicants with any disability may contact the university’s Disability Support Services Unit at the following telephone numbers: (+267)-3552545/2768. The declaration of such information helps the University in assessing the learning needs of all applicants.  The University will; at all times preserve the confidentiality of student information.

Submission of Applications:

Applicants are expected to submit their applications mainly online although some paper-based ones will also be accepted. Such applications will be received by Undergraduate Admissions Office at Main Campus in Gaborone; Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown; and Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun. Applicants are advised to go to these Centres for their application advisement and submission of completed applications if they choose to submit manually. Service will be open from 8:00am to 4:30pm during week days at both UB Francistown (CCE), Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun; and UB Main Campus in Gaborone until the closing date. Applicants are encouraged to pay their Application Fees at the Banks.

Changes:

Applicants may make changes to their study choices during the application period through a letter to Undergraduate Admissions Office.  No changes will be allowed after the closing date.

Admission Processing:

Applicants who meet the set programme entry requirements will be admitted based on academic merit depending on the availability of space. Meeting the minimum entry requirements therefore does not guarantee admission.
