Programmes
William Pitcher College currently offers two programmes; Primary and Secondary Teachers Diploma. Both programmes are three year duration and students are expected to do six weeks teaching practicum at the end of second and third year.
Primary Teachers Diploma: students are expected to do all subjects in year 1 and year 2. In year 3, students chose two subjects for specialisation. On completing the programme, graduates are expected to teach all subjects at the Primary school level.
Secondary Teachers Diploma: students choose major subjects in year 1 and continues with them until the end of the programme. As a teacher training programme, all students are expected to do all education courses. In addition, students also take support courses which include music, physical education and computer technology skills.
Entry Requirements
In order to be considered for enrolment in these programmes, a prospective student must have completed and passed the Eswatini General Certificate of Secondary Education (EGCSE) or equivalent. For more information see the PROSPECTUS.
Affiliation
The College is affiliated to the University of Eswatini.
Academic Year
The College academic year consists of two semesters. The first semester starts in August and ends in early December and the second semester starts in January (of the following calendar year) and ends in May. Second and Third year students are expected to do a six week compulsory teaching practicum at the end of the second semester.
