The International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) and the Academy for International Cooperation of the GIZ (AIZ/GIZ) join forces to organize this course as part of Centre’s Skills Development portfolio, which targets worldwide capacity building needs to support the implementation of TVET and skills development programs.

Introduction to the course

This course aims to improve the management of training centres, responding to the needs of the labour market while maximizing internal and external efficiency. The modules, group work and participants’ presentations will cover the areas of education/training, planning, organization, personnel management, quality control and impact evaluation, and budgeting and financing, including business plans and the autonomy of training centres.Who attends this course?

The course is aimed at the directors and staff of public and private training institutions; representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations active in TVET; staff of ministries of labour and education (when dealing with technical education); and other professionals dealing with HR development. Gender-balanced participation is desirable.What topics does this course cover?

This course is designed to facilitate the development of a holistic understanding of the management of vocational training centres by the participants, with sessions about:

  • The strategic management of a vocational training Centre;
  • Responsiveness of a vocational training Centre to labour market needs;
  • PPPs and the relationship between vocational training Centres and industry;
  • Vocational training Centres’ financial sustainability: autonomy and self-financing.
