Councilor for Bembeke ward suspended for tampering with ESCOM meter: MEC to declare his seat vacant

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has suspended ward councilor for Bembeke ward in Dedza for allegedly being found guilty of tampering with Electricity Supply corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) meter.
Ministry of Local Government spokesperson Muhlabase Mughogho confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
Mr. Davie Lingalawe was arrested on early last month and appeared before Dedza first grade magistrate court on Friday where he was ordered to pay a fine.
Meanwhile Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it will declare the seat vacant after 30 days.
