Speaking at the handover ceremony in Lilongwe, one of the organizers Fawzia Osman of Mkanda Accessorize said although the show did not raise enough money they decided to share the little that was raised.

“We are here to share the little that we raised and to fulfil the promises that we made. We know it will go a long way in as far as protective costume for people living with albinism is concerned.

“We are not stopping here. We will organise similar events in Blantyre and across the country.  As a grouping, Fashion and Glam has a vision to continue raising funds to help APAM,” Fawzia disclosed stressing that Fashion and Glam is currently not an established organisation.

She further thanked the general public and organisations that supported the event, saying people must unite for the wellbeing of people living with albinism.

“I would like to thank the British High Commissioner to Malawi Michael Nevin and his wife in particular for their colossal support. Thanks to the designers who came forth with their brim hat designs and for participating at the event,” said the grateful Fawzia.

In his remarks, APAM President Overstone Kondowe thanked Fashion and Glam team for the gesture and promised that the donation would reach the targeted people.

“I see brim hats here which make a complete protective set. These beautiful hats will add to the beauty that we already have.

“We are a transparent organisation. APAM will make sure that items reach the right people in both rural and urban areas,” he stated.

The APAM President then appealed to the society to strongly condemn barbaric and senseless attacks on people with albinism.

Fashion and Glam fashion show was organised by Fawzia Osman, Shabnaam Hubbe of SAC cosmetics and Nellie George of Nellie’s secret possessions among others.
