Kaliati made the call at Mtambanyama primary school ground in the district on Wednesday where she addressed a rally.
The minister said the country can only move forward if the people are supporting government in its programs.
“Let me assure people from Thyolo Thava that government is committed to improving the lives of the people especially the rural mass,” she said.
She gave an example of the construction of Thyolo Thekerani road which has been stalled for many years.
She said the DPP led government is a listening government and it is the reason it felt the need of constructing the road.
“The road will ease mobility and will help to develop this constituency and Thyolo as well as the country at large.
Kaliati also urged the community not to get confused with other politicians who do not have the welfare of people at heart.

She therefore advised the people to avoid being misled by few individuals who have personal interest on various issues affecting the district including the issue of land.
“Government is aware about the concerns of land people of Mulanje and Thyolo raised and that is the reason during late Bingu Wa Mutharika we established kuzigulira Malo project.
“Currently the government of Malawi is talking with tea estates especially those that have land that is not in use,” she said.
On the part of land bill the Minister of Information, ICT and Civic Education told the gathering that it is sad to note that some politicians are misleading the public on the bill.
She said it is a lie that the community will be asked to pay cash to register their land
She said, “The bill guarantees a common man to own land and protect his or her land.
The bill also gives an opportunity to women and children to own land in the case of death of the father.”
she said it is sad to note that some few individuals  in the country  are disrespectful to the leadership of the country despite so many developmental projects the DPP led government has initiated just within 2yrs in government.
In her remarks Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava Mary Thom Navicha said people from her constituency are in support of the DPP government.
She said government has initiated various projects in her area including a community college, a community day secondary school and construction of primary school blocks as well as social cash transfer.
