Introduction

The BSc in Agricultural Innovations is a unique programme although not currently offered by LUANAR. The programme focuses on addressing knowledge and competency gaps in problem solving. The aim of the programme is to develop multi-skilled professionals with agricultural, leadership, analytical, facilitative and refl ective competences to coordinate, stimulate and guide innovations and multi-actor partnerships for improving rural livelihoods with a broader view of local, regional and global trends in development based on an innovation system approach.
Main areas include: Understanding the innovation system approach and processes, Knowledge Management Systems, Agriculture Innovation Systems, Types of Agricultural and Climate-Smart Innovations, Farmers as Innovators, Formation and facilitation of Agricultural Innovation Platforms and Partnerships, Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Innovations BAGI Generic 1 ODL 4 credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Physical Science/Physics and Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level qualification.

Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Innovations BAGI Mature 2 ODL 6 credit passes including English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Physical Science/Physics and Chemistry at MSCE or any comparable O-Level qualification OR 3 passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry at A-Level or any comparable qualification; AND a relevant diploma (in Agriculture, Agricultural education, Livestock, Forestry, Environment, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Food science, Nutrition, Business studies, IT and other related fields) obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning; AND a minimum of 2 years post-diploma relevant work experience. Those with above “O” level or “A” level qualifications and a certificate in above fields, should have at least 7 years post-certificate experience.

*Candidates who failed to satisfy the general entry requirements in the previous two years but successfully improved their grades after re-sit for up to a maximum of four subjects in following two years may use their supplementary statements for accumulating credits
