Norwegian GOVT Commes LUANAR For Giving Girls A Better Learning Environment

The Norwegian government has hailed LUANAR for giving girls a better learning environment. Head of Development Cooperation, Merethe Luis, said this on Friday, 19th October 2018 when she visited LUANAR for CABMACC Annual General Meeting.
She said the inclusion of women in agriculture is very low in Malawi and it is impressive that LUANAR is offering a very good environment for girls to learn agriculture.
“Gender imbalance is one of the factors that are hindering the agriculture industry. Women need to be included in the agriculture sector and am very happy to note that LUANAR is offering girls a good learning environment to learn agriculture. This is commendable.” She said.
Commenting on the same, Professor Bishal Sitaula from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) said the gender issue in agriculture is very important therefore NMBU and LUANAR will work hand in hand to strike the gender balance.
During her visit, the Norwegian ambassador representative toured a female hostel (Kristine Bonnievie) which the University constructed with Funding from the Norwegian Government.
The Government of Norway is also supporting construction of teaching complex B, which is now at an advanced stage and is expected to be opened in April next year.
