Call for DAAD-RIPS 2021/2022 Scholarship Applications

The Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) at the University of Ghana is accepting applications for the award of the 2021/2022 German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships to pursue Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Population Studies at RIPS.

The Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) at the University of Ghana is accepting applications for the award of the 2021/2022 German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships to pursue Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Population Studies at RIPS.
The DAAD scholarship will cover tuition, stipends and accommodation for one-year Master of Arts (MA) and four-year Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. DAAD scholarships can only be awarded to applicants who:
 have successfully completed generally a three/four-year university degree for those applying to MA (duration of MA is one year) with above average results of SecondClass Upper Division or equivalent.
 have successfully completed generally one- or two-years MA/MSc./MPH/MFA/MPhil, etc. university degree (for doctoral candidates) with above average results of Second Class Upper Division or equivalent (for First degree)
 clearly show motivation and strong commitment
 have thorough knowledge of the English language
 have generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application
 are nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country
Women and people working in population-related sectors are encouraged to apply.

MA applicants’ required documents:

  • Undergraduate Certificate
  • Undergraduate Transcript
  • One-page motivational statement (Heading: Motivational Statement & your Name)
  • TOEFL/IELTS examination grades not more than two years old at the time of application (if applying as national or permanent resident of non-English speaking African country)
    PhD applicants required documents:
  • Undergraduate Certificate
  • Undergraduate Transcript
  • One-page motivational statement (Heading: Motivational Statement & your Name)
  • Graduate Certificate
  • Graduate Transcript
