Mzuzu University Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Application For Scholarship Year 2020/21

Project: Collaborative training in fisheries and aquaculture in East, Central and Southern Africa (COTRA)
The EU under its Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, has provided funding to support training of graduate students in African universities from 1st November 2017 until 31st October 2022. In this mobility
programme five African partner institutions and one EU Technical partner will train professionals to achieve sustainable fisheries management and aquaculture resources that shall lead to increased fish production and enhanced food and nutritional security, and hence, improved livelihood and household revenue seeking.

The programme will train 24 masters (6 credit seeking and 18 degree-seeking) and 12 Doctorates (4 credit seeking and 8 degree seeking) in Fisheries Management, Aquaculture, Fisheries and
Aquatic Sciences, Ichthyology, Zoology and Biology. Degree seeking mobility will be for the duration of the programme and the student will be registered and complete the programme at the host institution. Credit seeking mobility students will undertake two semester courses or research component at another university within a duration of not more than 10 months.
COTRA therefore, calls for application from suitable PhD and Msc Credit Seeking candidates to apply for the available positions indicated in Tables 1 below before 2nd February 2021 (Midnight Central African time).

The scholarships are open to candidates from Target Group 1 (Applicants currently registered at or have done their degrees at one of the partner institutions: University of Eldoret (Kenya), Makerere University
(Uganda), Rhodes University (South Africa), Mzuzu University (Malawi), and the Official University of Bukavu (DR Congo). Please note that applicants are only allowed to apply to study in an institution outside of their home countries. Any applicant who has previously benefitted from EU funded mobility program and those who obtained their previous entry degrees from Europe does not qualify. Females and candidates with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.

All interested candidates should download the application form, fill it and submit either through email or postal services. In order to facilitate and fasten the mobility process, each applicant is advised to apply to
the sending university for admission. The admission criteria for each university can be found from their respective websites.
