Application Timeline

There is one intake for the NEED programme each year in September.
 
SUTD is now accepting applications for the September 2021 intake. Should you have any further enquiries, please email to mneed@sutd.edu.sg. The application closes on 30 June 2021.
 
A non-refundable fee of S$21.40 (inclusive of GST) will be levied for each application.

Admission Requirements

The NEED programme seeks individuals with a strong passion for IC design, research and reliability analysis and who possess a strong background in electronics/electrical engineering or a related field.
 
Individuals who possess relevant work experience are also welcome to apply.
 
All applicants should possess the following:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree or above with excellent academic standing (Second-Upper Honours and above) and majoring in electronics/electrical engineering or a related field, or
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in English (IELTS or TOEFL is required if English is not your medium of instruction in your studies)

Please submit your online application early to facilitate processing. Short-listed applicants may be interviewed face-to-face, via Skype or over the telephone.

  1. Original Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree transcript and certificate softcopies

Please provide your latest official transcripts and official letter of certification from your institution stating the expected date of graduation or award of degree if you have not graduated from your degree programme. For non-English documents, an official English translation must be provided (at your expense).

  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report​

If the medium of instruction during your undergraduate studies was not in English, please submit your IELTS or TOEFL scores no later than 2 weeks after the application deadline.

  1. Names, titles & e-mail addresses of 3 Recommenders

Recommenders should consist of at least one academic faculty member who can gauge your scholastic capabilities and achievements and your ability to complete the programme while the other two could be industry colleagues or supervisors that can gauge your professional capabilities and achievements. Fresh graduates may submit all three recommenders who are academic faculty members. Do notify your recommenders beforehand as they must submit their respective online recommendations within 1 week after you submit your Master’s application.

  1. Relevant supporting documents

Softcopies or web links to your curriculum vitae, academic and/or industry portfolio, awards, publications, etc.

  1. Softcopy of your Identity Card or relevant pages in your Passport
  2. Your Statement of Objectives (1,500 words) softcopy
  3. Research Project Selection

Each applicant is encouraged to indicate the research project that they wish to undertake to complete their Master thesis.
