Tuition Fees
SUTD aims to advance knowledge and nurture technically grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs. To realise this vision, we admit talented promising students and provide financial support based on merit and need.
Tuition fees at SUTD are highly subsidised by the Singapore Government. This substantial subsidy comes in the form of a tuition grant administered by the Singapore Government that allows eligible students to pay subsidised tuition fees.Academic Year 2021
Tuition fees for new students admitted in AY2021 are as follows:

SUTD adopts a cohort-based fixed fee model whereby the tuition fee for a cohort intake will remain unchanged throughout the normal candidature of the undergraduate programme. However, tuition fees for every new cohort are subject to change from year to year.
The tuition fees do not include miscellaneous fees, hostel fees and living expenses.
Please note the following for tuition fee payment:
- Students are required to pay fees for 8 academic terms (i.e. normal course duration).
- Students who are required to take a subject during their vacation term(s) or term(s) beyond the normal programme duration of 8 academic terms will have to pay fees based on subject credits.
- All fee amounts quoted here are based on the subsidised fees payable by students who take up the Tuition Grant (TG) scheme. Please check your TG eligibility.
- For Singapore Citizen students and Singapore Permanent Resident students paying subsidised fees, Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the tuition fees is subsidised by MOE. The fee amounts quoted here are exclusive of GST.
- GST subsidy for International Students is withdrawn from the AY2016 intakes and beyond. International students will be liable to pay GST on their tuition fees payable. The fee amounts quoted here are inclusive of GST.
- For students paying non-subsidised fees, GST on the tuition fees is to be borne by students.
- Students who do not sign the Tuition Grant Agreement or who are not eligible for the tuition grant will have to pay non-subsidised tuition fees.
- Citizenship changes which result in tuition fee rate changes will be effected in the term only if email notification (together with Singapore NRIC or collection slip) to Office of Student Administration is received no later than the end of Week 2 of the term. Notification received/issue date after Week 2 of the term will have the revised tuition fee effected only in the following term.
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy for Singapore Citizen aged 40 years and above
Eligible Singapore Citizens (SC) students aged 40 years and above will pay tuition fees that are 60% lower than the standard subsidised tuition fees payable by other SC students who are below 40 years old. More information about the Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.
National Servicemen
National Servicemen, whose enrolment into SUTD is delayed due to their national service obligations in Singapore, will pay the prevailing tuition fees at the time they accepted their offer of admission. If the National Serviceman does not accept the place first offered and accepts offers in the subsequent years, he will pay the tuition fee effective in the later year of offer which he has accepted.
Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees
In addition to tuition fees, students are required to pay the Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees (CMF). Refer to the Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees page for more information.
Fee Billing and Payment Modes
Students will receive their bills at the commencement of each term and payment is due 30 days from the commencement of term. An email notification will be sent to the student’s SUTD email account when the bill is ready. Students will be able to check their bills via the SUTD Student Portal.
Students are able to pay their bills via cheque, cashier order, demand draft, GIRO, DBS/POSB ATM, DBS/POSB internet banking and eNETS via the SUTD student portal.
Late Payment Penalties
Late payment fee of S$50.00 will be imposed on the student’s account and negative service indicator (NSI) will be activated if fees remain outstanding more than 30 calendar days from due date. Upon NSI activation, students will not be able to access MyPortal to view exam results, print transcripts or enrol for modules.
Refund Policy
Students who apply for leave of absence or leave SUTD, either through withdrawal of their own accord or termination of candidature by SUTD, after two weeks from commencement of each term will be liable to pay fees for the entire term. Requests for refund will not be considered.

Tuition Grant
The MOE Tuition Grant is a grant provided by the Government of Singapore to help students manage the costs of full-time tertiary education in Singapore. Eligible Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and international students enrolled in full-time undergraduate courses at the autonomous universities may receive it.
Eligible Singapore Citizens are automatically awarded a Tier A Tuition Grant, which is the highest level of tuition fee subsidy, when you commence your studies. Singapore Citizens thus pay the lowest tuition fees. There is no bond obligation.
Eligible Permanent Residents may choose to apply for a Tier B Tuition Grant only. Successful applicants are required to work for a Singapore entity for three years upon graduation.
Eligible international students may choose to apply for a Tier C Tuition Grant only. There is a limited number of Tuition Grants available for international students, and selection is competitive and based on merit. Successful applicants are required to work for a Singapore entity for three years upon graduation.
If you do not apply for a Tuition Grant, or if you do not complete the registration and signing process, you will need to pay non-subsidised fees.

Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees
In addition to tuition fees, students are required to pay the Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees (CMF), as long as they remain registered as students with the University. These compulsory annual miscellaneous fees are charged for registration to student council, students’ activities, insurance**, sport facilities, IT facilities and academic related services. These fees are non-refundable.
The Compulsory Miscellaneous Fees for AY2021 payable by CGU students in June and SUTD students in September prior to the start of programme at SUTD are as follows:

For Singapore Citizen students and Singapore Permanent Residents students, payment can be made via cheque, cashier order, demand draft, GIRO, DBS/POSB ATM, DBS/POSB internet banking and eNETS via the SUTD Student Portal.
