APPLICATION GUIDE FOR PART-TIME DIPLOMA & POST-DIPLOMA COURSE-Admission process

Application Need To Know

Courses are run in April and/or October each year. Application for the April intake starts in early November till January and October intake starts in early May till July.

  • Go through the course details carefully on the course webpage.
  • Find out the minimum entry requirements for your course.
  • Ensure you have your Singpass and 2-Step Verification (2FA) ready before you apply.
  • Have the following documents/information ready before you apply:
    • Your NRIC/Passport/Employment Pass/Work Permit
    • Your academic and professional qualifications
    • Your employment data
    • Your employer’s contact details (if you are sponsored)
    • Supporting documents formats for upload (.JPEG, .JPG or .PDF)
      1. NRIC for Singapore Citizens and SPRs
      2. Work pass and passport [for Work Pass holders)
      3. Immigration pass, passport, marriage certificate and spouse’s personal identification documents (if married), birth certificate and parent’s personal identification documents (if below 21 years old) [for Immigration Pass holders)
      4. Passport size photo (only 1 file required in .JPEG/.JPG format. Your photograph image must be
        • in colour taken against a plain white background without shadows
        • taken within the last 3 months;
        • show the full face and without headgear (headgear worn in accordance with religious or racial customs is acceptable but must not hide the facial features)
           
      5. GCE ‘O’ level certificate/transcript/result slip
      6. Nitec or/and Higher Nitec certificate(s) and transcript(s)
      7. Certificates and transcripts if you hold other relevant qualifications (e.g GCE ‘N’ level, GCE ‘A’ level, Diploma, Degree etc.)
      8. Holders of foreign qualifications, please provide certificates and transcripts with translation in English where appropriate

Course Fee

Please refer to individual course pages for course fee information. Student Group Personal Accident (GPA) Insurance is applicable to Part-time Diploma, Post Diploma and Skills-Based Modular Course (stackable) students.

Funding & Subsidies

There are various funding & subsidies available for individuals and organisations to encourage skills upgrading.

Workfare Skills Support (WSS) Scheme

From 1 July 2020, the Workfare Skills Support (WSS) Scheme will replace the Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme. There will be no course fee subsidies for WSS.

To qualify for the scheme, individuals must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore citizen
  • Aged 35 years old or above on 31 December of the work year
  • For Persons with Disabilities, the age criterion is 13 years old or above
  • Employed and earning a gross monthly income1 of not more than $2,300 for the month worked2 ; and
  • Fulfils the WIS eligibility criteria of housing annual value (AV), property ownership and spousal income. The WIS criteria of housing AV, property ownership and spousal income are as follows:
    • Lives in a property with an annual value of $13,0003 or less assessed as at 31 December of the preceding year
    • Owns less than two properties
    • If the individual is married:
      • The individual and his/her spouse own less than two properties together; or
      • The assessable income of the individual’s spouse for the preceding Year of Assessment is $70,000 or less.
         
    • If the individual is a Self-Employed Person, s/he must have also declared his/her net trade income for work done in the Work Year and made Medisave contributions.

1 Gross monthly income includes basic salary and additional wages such as overtime pay and bonuses.
2 In addition, you must earn an average gross monthly income of not more than $2,300 in the past 12 months.
3 Annual value is the estimated gross annual rent of the property if it were to be rented out, excluding furniture, furnishings and maintenance fees. It is determined based on estimated market rentals of similar or comparable properties.

Components under WSS Scheme:

1) Absentee Payroll (AP) and Training Allowance (TA)

For employer-sponsored trainees:


Employers will be eligible for AP support at 95% of hourly basic salary.

  • Only certifiable courses listed on the MySkillsFuture portal will qualify for AP.
  • For employers to be eligible for AP, their sponsored trainees must pass their course with an attendance rate of at least 75%.

For self-sponsored trainees (i.e. paying for their own training):


Trainees will receive TA of $6 per training hour.

  • The TA applies only to selected courses under the cleaning, security, landscape and lift sectors. Please visit WSG’s website for more details.
  • To qualify for TA, individuals must pass their course with a minimum attendance rate of 75%.
  • Trainees under the WSS Scheme may claim up to 180 hours of TA during their WSS eligibility period.

2) Training Commitment Award (TCA)

TCA is a cash award given to eligible workers after achieving the required certifications. No application is required by the trainees.

Temasek Polytechnic strives to provide a conducive environment for students to acquire the skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the world of work. Towards this end, all students are to bring their own notebooks for lessons. They will be able to:
 

  • access e-resources such as e-text books, videos, and educational apps;
  • conduct online research and work on their assignments using their own devices;
  • use their own devices in school and at home, thus enjoying convenience and accessibility to course-specific software whenever feasible; and
  • contribute towards a greener environment.

If you already own a notebook, you are not required to purchase a new one (subject to your notebook meeting the minimum specifications required for your course).

Students who are having technical issues, are encouraged to contact TP’s IT Service Management Centre at 6780 5933 or email at itsm@tp.edu.sg. The centre is located at East Wing Building, Blk 1A, Level 4, Unit 02. The operating hours of the centre are from Mondays to Fridays: 8.00am – 9.30pm (except for September vacation period where closing time will be at 6.30pm) and Saturdays: 8.00am – 1.00pm.

The course timetable will be made available to students before the commencement of a new semester. Depending on the course structure, some courses do not adhere to the Academic Calendar. Students are also advised to refer to the course timetable issued. Temasek Polytechnic reserves the right to alter the Academic Calendar.
