DurationThis course is two years part-time study. This course consisted of 700 credits and eligible students are entitled to 500 Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL). Students may complete the remaining 200 credits in 24 months (4 semesters) part-time.

This course is designed to build on the professional knowledge and experience you have developed as a registered nurse in a hospital-based course, taking study of the biological and behavioural sciences underlying nursing to greater depth. This course places emphasis on the maintenance and further development of your professional competencies and on enhancing your capabilities as a member of an inter-professional team in a changing health care system.

You will have the opportunity to the study core concepts of nursing: the wellbeing of the individual, family and community, which can be applied to any nursing situation. A problem solving approach will be stressed, with particular focus on the identification and assessment of health problems and nursing needs of individuals and their families. You will explore nursing research, ethics, professional practice, management, science and behavioural science.

Admission criteria

Qualification

  • Nanyang Polytechnic or Ngee Ann Polytechnic diploma and a Registered Nurse with a valid practising certificate (full and conditional registration only) from the Singapore Nursing Board; OR
  • Parkway College diploma graduate and a Registered Nurse with a valid practising certificate (full and conditional registration only) from the Singapore Nursing Board; OR
  • Graduate of a 3-year Diploma in Nursing recognised by Curtin University and as comparable to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma level 5 and a Registered Nurse with a valid practising certificate (full and conditional registration only) from the Singapore Nursing Board.
  • Other nursing diploma level qualifications are assessed on an individual basis.
