Two killed in Dedza road accident: Malawi Police identify cyclist, pedestrian

Malawi Police have said two people, a cyclist and pedestrian were killed on Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle.

Police deputy spokesman for Dedza, Cassim Manda identified the deceased as  Arnold Wanda 22 a cyclist and Mulire Kachala 44.

Manda said the vehicle registration number CZ5060 Toyota Opa saloon driven by Onesimo Kananji was coming from Lilongwe heading to Ntcheu.

He said after hitting the two victims, the  driver lost control of the vehicle and went further to hit and demolish a nearby kitchen and had to grind to a halt after hitting a house.
