COLD KILLS GUARD, MOZAMBICAN STABBED 10 TIMES IN MATSAPHA
MANZINI – Two people died in Matsapha yesterday morning; one was stabbed more than 10 times all over the body, while the other, a security guard, collapsed and died at the industrial sites apparently due to the cold.
The security guard, Joseph Dlamini (53) of Bhekinkhosi, employed by Guard Alert, collapsed and died on the spot, while he was knocking off from duty in the early hours of yesterday.
One of his colleagues, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Dlamini had complained of chest pains, prior to his death. However, some said they suspected he could have been exposed to the cold as he worked night shifts.
Matsapha police were called after Dlamini collapsed and information gathered is that when he first collapsed, he was assisted by his colleagues to board a car.
He is said to have collapsed again and lost consciousness. When other Guard Alert employees tried to resuscitate him, he did not respond.
He was taken to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital Emergency Room (ER), where he was certified dead upon arrival.
Other well-placed sources revealed that Dlamini had been sickly for quite some time and was once off-duty for a while, last month.
It was also gathered that he was forced to return to work due to his financial constraints as some of his children were still school-going.
Guard Alert Human Resources Manager Mbuso Dube confirmed that one of the company employees died after collapsing in the early hours of yesterday morning. Dube said the company had already sent some managers to pass condolences to the family on behalf of the company.
Police Deputy Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the incident and said the police were investigating.
