Former Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Robert Ng’ambi and striker Gabadinho Mhango inspired Platinum Stars and Bid Wits FC to 1-0 and 2-1 victories over heavyweights Supersport and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
Ng’ambi in the 62nd minute to give Platinum Stars who were reduced to 10 men, to perfect start on Wednesdayafter powering home a freekick from Vuyo Mere while Mhango provided an assist for one of Wits’ goals as he was named man of the match.
This is a boost particularly the Malawian midfielder’s national team return who was controversially reduced to a peripheral figure during the one-year tenure of coach Ernest Mtawali.
Caretaker coach Burundian Nsanzarwimo Ramadhan has included him in the squad to face Swaziland in a formality Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as  he will seek the team’s first win of the botched up campaign that led to the premature end of Mtawali’s promising coaching career.
