UNIMA Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods

Course Outline
The main objective of this course is to teach practical skills and understanding in qualitative research methodology looking specifically at application in health related research. The emphasis will be on practical orientation to the key skills and approaches used, including use of Nvivo. The target participants are research scientists, research fellows, research associates, programme monitoring and evaluation experts and undergraduate and post graduate students interested to increase knowledge in qualitative research methods and analysis.
 
The topics to be covered will include:

  1. An introduction to qualitative research methods
  2. Developing qualitative research aims, objectives and protocols
  3. Development of qualitative research tools
  4. Qualitative data collection
  5. Data management & data transcription
  6. Analyzing Qualitative Data
  7. Introduction to NVIVO

Methods of Assessment and credits
No formal assessment. Attendees will get a certificate of attendance and course materials.
 
Duration: 3 days.
 
Fees: US$250.00 for externals, US$180.00 for internals (Internals shall mean students from COM and its affiliates)
