JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Purpose of the position: The position will be responsible for implementation of (MLEARN, WASH, MHFS&R, MMNeCH) project activities, community level coordination and fostering partnerships within the sector in the Area Programme.

..MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

25 Project planning and Implementation

  1. Facilitate community engagement in planning and developing detailed annual implementation plans for the sector aligned to the Technical Programme
  2. Facilitate efficient and timely implementation of planned activities.
  • Community annual plan in place
  • Community engagement report shared
  • DIP developed and implemented timely
20 Project monitoring and reporting

  1. Regular data collection under the sector for reporting and evaluation.
  2. Developing and submitting reports as required
  3. Conduct community monitoring visits and review meetings
  4. Documenting lessons learnt, promising practices and change stories
  5. Report RC participation in sector related activities
  6. Produce and share evidence of project impact on children including RC
  7. Conduct home visits for RC households
  8. Build the capacity of community groups in monitoring
  • Updated results framework
  • Reports submitted timely (MMRs, activity reports, quarterly review reports, change stories
  • Evidence of impact shared e.g. impact stories, videos, photos
  • Completed RC monitoring forms submitted
  • Community-led monitoring reports shared
25 Community engagement and capacity building

  1. Identify technical and organizational capacity gaps among community groups, volunteers and stakeholders
  2. Organize and implement capacity building initiatives at community level
  3. Provide mentorship and coaching of trained groups (volunteers, committees and stakeholders)
  4. Mobilize and engage communities in sector specific issues using participatory methodologies (e.g. campaigns)
  5. Build the capacity of the community in disaster risk management
  • Community and local stakeholders capacity building plan in place
  • Capacity building reports produced and shared
  • Functional sector specific groups at community level (trained , community groups reports,
  • Community groups
  • Technical groups trained in disaster risk management
  • Civil Protection Committees (CPCs) established and trained
20 Networking & Advocacy

  1. Facilitate linkages between community groups and relevant technical sector platforms
  2. Identify sector related issues for advocacy
  3. Build the capacity of community groups in advocacy using Citizen Voice and Advocacy (CVA)
  4. Represent the program in relevant forums at local level
  5. Facilitate interface meetings between service providers and community groups
  6. Build partnerships with the church and FBOs within sector related activities
  • Church Hope Action Teams (CHATs) formed
  • Sector specific committees trained in CVA
  • Network meetings reports produced and shared
  • Partnerships developed and managed at AP level.
  • Local level networks (AP) are coordinated.

The incumbent should have at least a diploma in TP relevant field (i.e. Health & Nutrition, Environmental Health, Food Security, Irrigation, Education, Water and Sanitation, Development Studies, Community, Rural Development)
List additional work experience required as a minimum qualification for this position.
  1. At least three years’ experience in program management at community level working with different partners including government, community structures and other CSO’s
  2. Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  3. Very good oral and written communication skills in English and ability to write quality report,
  4. Good facilitation skills

License, registration, or certification required to perform this position:
If applicable, include language requirement(s) as a minimum qualification for this position : N/A

List academic requirements, technical skills or other knowledge preferred for this position.
  1. Three years’ experience working in the NGO sector
  2. Motor cycle rider with a clean riding licence
  3. Knowledge about sector related approaches and policies
  4. Working in a cross cultural environment
