RB : Ten Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are offered for September 2017

MSc Responsible Tourism Management is industry-relevant,UNWTO TedQual certified and delivers an applied yet holistic understanding of the tourism industry. It is taught by experts in the field engaged in research and consultancy activities for a wide range of clients. The course is designed to cover the key issues required to understand and apply responsible tourism principles in a generic, analytical and integrated way.
Learning Outcomes:The course is designed to develop graduates with:

  1. A critical knowledge and understanding of cutting edge responsible tourism management principles and concepts that can be applied to profit and not-for-profit organisations in tourism generating and destination countries;
  2. A critical knowledge and understanding of responsible tourism product development, management, marketing and planning in natural and cultural heritage settings, and the contribution responsible tourism makes to local economic development;
  3. An in-depth, critical knowledge of the impact of tourism on natural, cultural and human dimensions of tourist destinations and approaches to use tourism as a policy tool and industry instrument for positive change and sustainable development.

Entry Requirements
At least a second class honours degree..
A year’s work experience in a relevant field including Travel,Tourism, Hospitality, Business, Economics, Marketing, Environmental Management, Ecology, Development, Cultural Heritage Management,Project Management or Planning.
Applicants who do not meet the academic entry requirements will be expected to have equivalent experience and training from a relevant work environment.

Scholarship will include:
| Full tuition/course fees for delivery over 3 years – starting September 2017
| 1 return flight per year (total of 3 flights) for students from outside Mauritius to attend face-to-face teaching and fieldtrips at Rushmore Business School in Mauritius.
| In-country fieldtrips (Mauritius)| Successful candidates will be responsible for their own in-country food and accommodation costs during the face-to-face teaching weeks (total of 4 ½ weeks) and graduation costs.
 
Ten Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships
are being offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.
