University of Technology Mauritius Application for October Admission

Applications are open as from Monday, 19 July 2021 to Monday, 27 September 2021 and should be made on form
downloadable from UTM’s Website (www.utm.ac.mu) and send by post to the Student Affairs Office, University of
Technology, Mauritius, La Tour Koenig, Pointe aux Sables.

Government has decided to introduce Free Higher Education in Public Tertiary Education Institutions (TEIs) for Mauritian citizens.The scheme covers tuition fees for students of Mauritian Nationality enrolled in a recognized first award certificate, first diploma and first-degree programme on either full-time, part-time mode or distance/blended mode.
The Scheme will not apply to in-service training where the costs are already met by Government and also to commissioned/sponsored programmes by industry.
The Scheme does not apply to students whose fees are already covered by another scheme such as scholarships, sponsorships etc.
Tailor-made courses designed at the specific requests of client organizations and considered as in-house training accomodate only students sponsored by client organizations.
Exceptionally, non-sponsored students may be accomodated on a case-to-case basis, subject to payment of appropriate fees.
The general entry requirement for admission to Higher Education institutions to study for an undergraduate programme excluding Diploma and Certificate programmes should not be less than the
following:
General and Student Union Fees are non-refundable and there are two Semesters in an Academic Year.

n 3 subjects at A-Level and 1 subject at subsidiary level at Higher School Certificate Examinations,

  1. Photocopies of documents submitted by applicants are not returnable.
  2. Only successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications.
  3. The UTM does not accept any payment by post and strongly advises applicants against sending cash by post. UTM shall not be held liable of any loss if an applicant adopts this
    mode of payment.
  4. *Note: Programmes in the pipeline for approval before the October 2021 intake will be advertised on the University’s webpage and social media platforms.
  5. For Master of Business Administration programmes, courses will, as far as possible, be run on Saturdays and Sundays. However, some modules may be run on week days after
    working hours.
  6. UTM Reserves the right to offer any module, part or whole of a programme on distance / blended mode.
  7. Given that blended learning is here to become the new normal, applicants of UTM need to bring their own ICT devices. Applicants / Students not having ICT devices should avail
    of facilities in the markets to acquire same.
  8. Students have to be physically present in Mauritius during a semester to attend classes and attend to assessments unless with special permission of the Head of School. Save
    in very exceptional circumstances, at least 50% of delivery will be on a face-to-face classroom basis. Need for physical presence in Mauritius is equally applicable to international
    students.
    OR Pass in 2 subjects at A-Level and 2 subjects at subsidiary level at the Higher School Certificate Examination OR Pass in
    OR Pass in 3 subjects at A-level at the London General Certificate Examination
    OR Equivalent Qualifications awarded by other recognized institutions and approved by Academic Council as satisfying the minimum requirements for admission.
    A candidate applying to register for PhD (Direct) shall hold an MPhil Degree or a Masters Degree by Research in the field. A candidate holding a First Class Honours
    Bachelor degree may also apply but will have to successfully clear an interview prior to be considered further.
  9. The UTM reserves the right to alter fees or other charges.
  10. Mature candidates holding alternative qualifications and/or working experience are invited to consult the UTM Website about Regulations for the possibility of an entry into undergraduate
    programmes through the Accreditation of Prior Learning or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APL/APEL) pathways.

  12. Payment of a Non-Refundable Application Fee of Rs 1,000 for Mauritian applicants should be made exclusively by internet banking using SBM Bank Account No: 61031200000193 or other
    payment details as indicated on UTM website. Online payments MUST specify the Applicant’s full name and NIC as transaction reference. Payment may alternatively be made at any SBM branch

  13. UTM runs courses from Mondays to Saturdays from 8.00am to 8.00pm and online sessions may be conducted beyond 6.30pm on weekdays and on Sunday as well (for online sessions only).
