University of Malawi The Polytechnic City & Guilds technician programmes for the January-June intake

The Department of Electrical Engineering is informing the general public that it will be offering the following City & Guilds technician programmes for the January-June 2022 intake

  1. Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Technology (E1)
  2. Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (E2) 
  3. Advanced Technician Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering – Part I (E3) 
  4. Advanced Technician Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering – Part II (E4)
  5. Advanced Technician Diploma in Electrical and Electronic
  6. Engineering – Engineering Project (E4) (Mandatory)

Entry Requirements:
i. Minimum qualification for all levels is MSCE or equivalent with at least passes in Mathematics and Physical Science/General Science;
ii. Candidates with at least Level 2 Trade Test or equivalent or have sat for relevant Certificate level will join at Diploma; and
iii. Candidates with relevant Diploma or have sat for Diploma level will join at Advanced Diploma.
General Information:
i. Candidates must complete both E3 and E4 levels including Engineering Project module for them to graduate with Advanced Technician Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
ii. The tuition fee includes all the required practical lessons;
iii. Candidates will be required to pay examination fees to City & Guilds through Continuing Education Centre;
iv. All courses are offered during weekdays and are on Non-Residential basis;
v. Duration for each level is 6 months and candidates shall sit for exams early June 2022; and
vi. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
Note:
After graduating with Advanced Diploma and attaining a minimum of two years working experience, candidates with relevant MSCE credits have the opportunity to apply for entry into the MUBAS Bachelors (hons) degree in the Electrical Engineering Department as mature entry students.
