AIRLINE CADET PROGRAMMES

CAE Oxford Aviation Academy works in partnership with several airlines who pre-select applicants for First Officer positions before training commences. Applicants must apply online to these programmes, which are invariably notified through the CAE Oxford Aviation Academy web site or in the media. Please note the minimum entry requirements for airline cadet programmes may vary from our standard entry requirements.

MODULAR TRAINING PROGRAMMES

At Oxford we also offer Modular Pilot Training Programmes in addition to our APP First Officer Programme. The minimum entry requirements and enrolment process for these Modular Pilot Training Programmes, including the ATPL Theory Training and the Waypoint Pilot Programme, differ from those of our integrated ATPL Programmes and Airline Schemes. Please view our Modular training section for more information.

CLASS 1 PILOT MEDICAL REQUIREMENT

Prior to enrolling on any CAE Oxford Aviation Academy Pilot Training Programme, you must possess a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
For the UK, this can be obtained from the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s Aeromedical Centre at Gatwick Airport or from the aviation authority in most EASA member states.
The Medical Examination includes:

  • Review of your medical history
  • Hearing and vision tests
  • Lung function and heart tests
  • Blood and urine analysis
  • General physical examination

Candidates who meet the assessment and selection prerequisites will be invited to attend our Skills Assessment.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT

CAE Oxford Aviation Academy Skills Assessment ensures we identify those individuals most likely to succeed in airline pilot training and then into a professional flying career.
Skills Assessment takes place over one day at our Airline Careers and Assessment Centre at Oxford Airport, using specifically developed and validated methodologies and tools.
The assessment includes:

  • Computer based testing
  • Technical test
  • Personality profiling
  • Teamwork exercises
  • Competency based interviews

Assessment results are valid for 12 months from the date of your initial attempt.
Although this process might initially sound daunting, it is actually quite enjoyable, and also enables potential students to have a closer look at our Oxford academy and to meet both staff and students in the day-to-day working environment, before committing to training.
