A.Master of Science in Innovation Programme
Many specialists have predicted that innovation will be the main paradigm shift in the quest to keep the world competitive. The creators of innovations must tune up their training in order to meet the global needs and challenges. Therefore, the Malawi University of Science and Technology is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to pursue a 2 year MSc in Innovation programme. This programme will be offered over four semesters, on two-week block release during which period students will periodically come on campus for face-to-face tuition followed by a period of attending to assignments at home. Modules to be covered in first year include: The Innovator’s Mindset, Innovation Management and Organization, Innovation Ethics, Innovation Law, Project Management, Creative and Innovative Product Design, Innovative Scientific and Technological Industries, Technology Commercialization, Research Project Skills, Markets and New Business and Financing and Modelling Innovation.. In second year students will undertake a research project mainly, focusing on product development and submit a dissertation.
B.Master of Science in Entrepreneurship
The Malawi Growth and Development Strategy and other National Policy documents for Malawi have recognized that the private sector is the engine for economic growth and development of this country; value addition and international competitiveness are key to this development process. Malawi needs a vibrant, well informed, and trained private business and corporate world to compete regionally and internationally. The Malawi University of Science and Technology is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to pursue a 2 year Master’s in Entrepreneurship programme aimed at equipping students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to survive and thrive in business to propel this country to greater socio-economic heights. This programme will be offered over four semesters on two-week block release during which period students will periodically come on campus for face-to-face tuition followed by a period of attending to assignments at home. Modules to be covered in first year include: Entrepreneurship, Economics for Entrepreneurs, Corporate Finance, Corporate Strategy, Project Management, International Trade and Finance, Commercial Law, Technology Commercialization, Research Project Skills, Marketing Management and submit a Business Development Project. . Under the Business Development Project, students will develop a viable and bankable business plan. In second year students will undertake a research project mainly focusing on entrepreneurship and submit a dissertation.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must have:
l. A good Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university.
2. At least two years of work experience in a relevant field.
C.Fees
Tuition fee is US$3,500 or Malawi Kwacha equivalent per academic year for the above programmes.
Other Costs for postgraduates
Residence Fees: K30,000 per semester (depends on availability)
Medical insurance: To be advised
Living expenses approximately K250,000 per semester payable on prorata basis.
Research Fee (MSc): US$500.00 or in Malawi Kwacha equivalent
Dissertation: Thesis Binding: K25,000
D.Applications for the above programmes should include:
1. A completed postgraduate application form available at MUST registry.(or on MUST website: www.must.ac.mw)
2. A motivational essay of 500 words
3. Authenticated copies of academic certificates.
4. Sealed academic transcripts.
5. Proof of funding, for example sponsorship letter or copies of appropriate
financial records for self-sponsored.
6. Two reference letters (one academic and one professional)
7. An original bank deposit slip of a non-refundable application fee of K5,000.00 for Malawians and $100 for all non-Malawians. Payment of application fee should
be made into the bank account provided.
