LUANAR : NR Faculty awards best students
Faculty of Natural Resources at LUANAR recently awarded eleven students from all its three departments who performed well during 2015/2016 academic year.
According to the Faculty Dean, Dr Wilfred Kadewa, the faculty decided to award the students as one away of encouraging them to work hard as well their fellow students.
He urged the students to make use of what they learn in their respective programmes so as to achieve their goals.
“Use time wisely and start preparations before exams. You should be able to challenge your lecturers and they will know that you really grasped what you learnt,” said Dr Kadewa.
He said the awarding ceremony was combined with a career guide so that the students are aware of the career prospects in their programmes.
Experts from the departments of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Environmental Management Sciences and Forestry mentored these students on these career prospects.
In his remarks, Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Emanuel Kaunda commended the faculty for the initiative saying it was the first faculty to organize career guidance of its students at LUANAR.
“Thank you Dean and your team for this innovation of bringing all students together and guide them. No wonder this faculty was recognized as one of the faculties that did well in managing exams in the last academic year,” said Professor Kaunda.
The Acting Vice Chancellor urged the students to work extra hard saying coming to university is a rare opportunity that needs to be utilized.
“You have an opportunity of passionate lecturers who are willing to train you hence don’t lose this chance. What you have learnt is more important and needs to be taken seriously because a certificate without knowledge is nothing,” he said.
Professor Kaunda further advised those who scored high grades to maintain and urged those who did not make it to work hard saying what they are doing now will determine their future.
The students were also guided on how they can survive academically on campus so that they successfully complete their studies.
