JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of the position:
To provide driving services to national office staff and officers in order to enhance the ministry in transport services.

Perform driving duties within the district and outside the district as directed by the supervisor. 15
Transport projects materials and equipment to project sites. 10
Keep the vehicle under his/her care clean and in excellent operational conditions. 10
Monitor and ensure that engine oil, water, brake fluid etc are checked before driving away the vehicle. 5
Report to the immediate supervisor any accidents involving World Vision vehicles. 5
Ensure safety and security of passengers and materials at all times. 10
Ensure that all trips are recorded in the vehicle logbook and ensure regular communication with the supervisors. 5
8 Advise management on due dates for Certificate of Fitness (CoF), insurance or service requirements. 15
9 Ensure that unauthorized passengers are not carried in World Vision cars. 5
10 Attend to minor mechanical problems in consultation with the Regional and National Office Mechanics. 5
11 Communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others 15

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
Minimum Qualification required: Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and must have a valid driver’s license.
Experience: Not less than five years experience on the same position.
Preferred:

  • A relevant clean Driving License
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chichewa (oral and written).
  • Experience in driving high profile delegates
  • Have a good working relationship with the team.
  • Eager to learn and work without supervision in harsh environments
  • Experience in community development work.
